For optimal health and quality of life, a chiropractor should be part of every Canadian’s healthcare team. Chiropractors are primary health care professionals in every province in Canada which means patients can consult them directly without referrals. As spine, muscle, and nervous system experts, chiropractors provide qualified, effective treatment to promote health, alleviate pain and improve your quality of life.

Chiropractors focus on the bodies neuro-musculoskeletal (MSK) system that is made up of three profoundly interconnected sub-systems. The MSK system supports your weight, provides physical stability, enables you to move, and connects directly to vital organs in your body. More simply put this amazing interaction lets us do exceptional, beautiful things such as ballet, play sports, or run 100m in less than 10 seconds. Like any complex system, things can go wrong.

Medical professionals, researchers, and the health community at large trust the expertise of chiropractors to assess, diagnose, and treat musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) and injuries. Many chiropractors and medical doctors work closely together referring patients to each other so the most comprehensive patient care can be provided.

In her late teens, Dr. Maclean suffered a serious accident that left her with constant headaches and numbness in her hands. After two years of physiotherapy and rehabilitation this condition persisted. While the medical doctors were recommending a spinal fusion, a family friend, who happened to be a neurosurgeon, recommended a chiropractor. Through sheer desperation, Barb was taken to the recommended Chiropractor and the results were amazing. Headaches and numbness were virtually eliminated without any need for spinal surgery. In addition, she now had a new career option.

Prior to becoming a Doctor of Chiropractic, Barb received an honors degree in Kinesiology-Sports Medicine from the University of Waterloo. She treated varsity and elite athletes both on the field and in the rehabilitation clinic. While getting her Chiropractic degree, she also found time to head up the operation of a busy motor vehicle accident rehabilitation centre.

Dr. Maclean graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 1996. In 2001, Dr. Maclean completed her fellowship in Pediatric Chiropractic.
